[Guide Spotlight: Shushu]
Shushu’s journey is one spun from dreams, devotion, and a deep love for the art of pastries. Imagine a young woman in China with an undeniable calling, a vision sweetened by the allure of French pâtisseries. Fueled by this passion, Shushu booked a one-way ticket to Paris, where she immersed herself in the art of pastry-making, crafting delicate tarts and intricate quiches under the golden glow of French kitchens. Shushu earned her CAP Pâtissier (French pastry diploma) from the renowned culinary school Grégoire Ferrandi in Paris. For years, Paris was her canvas, and pastries, her brushstrokes.

Now rooted in the hills of San Carlos, Shushu brings a taste of Paris with her, teaching Moonlight participants to create pastries that are not just desserts but pieces of her heart. Each gathering is intimate, fragrant with the warmth of fresh bakes, and filled with laughter that rises as naturally as dough in the oven. These aren’t simply classes; they’re shared moments where people come together over butter, flour, and love.
Shushu’s path as a mother to her six-year-old and a certified Taiji instructor brings balance to her life. Every week, she leads Taiji sessions under open skies, inviting participants to center themselves on the hills of San Carlos, a place where nature and her community feel intertwined. And while she began her journey with Moonlight not knowing many neighbors, she now finds herself surrounded by familiar faces, friends drawn close through her gift of pastries and Taiji.
In Shushu’s eyes, Moonlight is a sanctuary where people are invited to be themselves. Her guidance is simple: “Relax, be yourself, make mistakes, and enjoy each moment.” With each bake and each breath, Shushu’s presence brings calm and sweetness, infusing the Moonlight community with an artful blend of creativity, connection, and a touch of Parisian magic.
