The Origin of Moonlight

Founders Maggie and Kelly independently had the same vision of connecting others and empowering local talent. Hoping to build connections through shared interests, Maggie created Lovo, a platform unlocking intimate, hidden experiences in private spaces. She wanted to leverage the unique talents in her neighborhood as a way of facilitating connection and community. Maggie launched Lovo in August 2023 in San Carlos and began marketing the platform through local Facebook mom’s groups.
Meanwhile, Kelly has lived around the world and experienced many cultures and communities - born in Korea, raised in Australia, moved to the US and then Taiwan for work. While residing in Taiwan in 2021, Kelly piloted her platform Moonpark, a marketplace that enabled locals to share their passions through neighborhood classes. She moved back with her family to San Carlos in 2023 with eyes set on launching in the US to build community and create connections.
One day, Maggie’s Facebook post caught Kelly’s attention and she reached out to Maggie for coffee.
Their first coffee chat was electric, sparking a deep resonance and connection. Maggie, software engineer and Kelly, marketing and business strategist, found their skills to be complementary. Driven by a relentless work ethic and a genuine desire to nurture connections, Maggie and Kelly embarked on a journey of collaboration. Through two more inspiring meetings that same week, they forged a partnership and envisioned a hyperlocal experience marketplace, merging their platforms into what would become The Moonlight Collective.
Today, with a growing number of guides, explorers and experiences, Maggie and Kelly are dedicated to spreading the magic of Moonlight across San Carlos and beyond, enriching the lives of residents and fostering a stronger sense of community in the Bay Area and the world.
